I work as an Akademischer Rat (eq. tenured Assistant Professor) in the Department of Political Science at University of Duisburg-Essen. My research interests focus on the role of immigration in politics and society, immigrant integration, policy effects on citizens, and quantitative methods. I am the principle investigator of research projects funded by the German Research Foundation and the Fritz Thyssen Foundation. My work has been published in The Journal of Politics, British Journal of Political Science, European Journal of Political Research, and Social Forces, among others. I am an incoming Associate Editor of the international peer-reviewed journal European Societies.

Before, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher and as a Visiting Associate Professor at the Institute of Sociology and Social Psychology, University of Cologne. I was a visiting scholar at the Danish Centre for Welfare Studies, University of Southern Denmark (2018), the Oxford Centre for the Study of Intergroup Conflict, University of Oxford (2016), and the Centre for Migration Studies, University of British Columbia (2021).

I hold a doctoral degree (Graduate School SocLife, 2015) and a Venia Legendi in political science (Habilitation, 2020) from University of Cologne.
