I work as an Akademischer Rat (eq. tenured Assistant Professor) in the Department of Political Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen. My research interests focus on the role of immigration in politics and society, immigrant integration, policy effects on citizens, and quantitative methods. I am the principal investigator of research projects funded by the German Research Foundation and the Fritz Thyssen Foundation. My work has been published in the American Political Science Review, The Journal of Politics, PNAS – Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, and Social Forces, among others. I am an Associate Editor of the international peer-reviewed journal European Societies.

Before, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher and as a Visiting Associate Professor at the Institute of Sociology and Social Psychology, University of Cologne. I was a visiting researcher at the Centre for Migration Studies, University of British Columbia (2021), the Danish Centre for Welfare Studies, University of Southern Denmark (2018), and the Oxford Centre for the Study of Intergroup Conflict, University of Oxford (2016).

I hold a doctoral degree (Graduate School SocLife, 2015) and a Venia Legendi in political science (Habilitation, 2020) from the University of Cologne.
